Whole-of-House Unit

The Whole-of House Unit:

is designed to treat the entire water supply to a residential dwelling

can be installed following the mains inlet to existing structures and, in the case of a new building, plumbing can be easily designed to allow treatment of kitchen, bathroom, and laundry water while toilet and garden outlets are by-passed

may be configured to suit both chlorinated and non-chlorinated water supplies

will provide treated water at flow rates up to 40 litres per minute to permit full flow to showers and laundry etc. (depending on supply pressure configuration and age of plumbing)

is ideal where chemical sensitivity (allergies) is a problem

is of particular use where poor water quality degrades plumbing and hot water services

Whole of house Water firstly flows through the world-patented SilverSafe Power Pack where tiny amounts of silver ions are introduced to destroy harmful bacteria. This first Power Pack not only sanitises the water for later use but stops a bacterial slime from building up inside the filters. Then a sediment cartridge filter removes all solids: rust, scale, dirt, asbestos fibres etc.
Next, a radial-flow activated-carbon cartridge removes chlorine, pesticides, herbicides, odours and tastes. (The removal of chlorine is of particular importance in the shower because studies have shown that a significant proportion of the total chlorine we absorb from water comes via direct absorption through the skin, and through inhalation of chlorinated steam, in showers.) Finally, the water exits the unit via a second SilverSafe Power Pack. The second Power Pack restores the level of silver ions which are partly filtered out by the activated-carbon filter. This ensures that water stored in pipes through the house remains free of bacteria.

The water delivered at each tap will remain free of bacteria for an extended period of time with correct storage.

Construction

The unit is constructed with isolating taps to allow servicing without interrupting the water supply to the building. Larger inlet and outlet fittings along with a pressure limiting valve are supplied to provide high volumes of water and efficient operation. External power supplied through mains adaptor or battery allows for longer Power Pack life. Servicing is usually required annually, however, this is governed by the amount of build-up in the sediment filter and the quantity of water consumed by the household.

Specifications

Basic specifications for the Whole-Of-House unit are listed below. For specifications of other products in the Homepure range and copies of water quality reports from independent testing authorities please return to the Home page or ask your Homepure distributor for more information.

Installation:¾" fittings with by-pass facility supplied. If fitted in exterior location the unit should be protected from direct sunlight. *For country applications with tank, bore, or river water, the addition of a dual under-bench unit in the kitchen will ensure safe water at the drinking tap.
Flow Rate:40 litres per minute. Ample flow for mains pressure supply at several taps and showers simultaneously depending on supply pressure and plumbing.
SilverSafe Power Packs:Will treat approximately 4000 litres before new batteries are required (if mains power adaptor is not used). Indicator lights will advise on correct operation and battery replacement status.
Simple screw-in replacement.
Residual silver: less than 0.01 mg per litre. (NHMRC (Australia) and EPA(USA) approved maximum 0.1 mg per litre)
Pre-filter Cartridge:For treated water supplies: SC20 Pleated Cellulose 20 inch sediment cartridge. Replace when clogged (lifetime depends on quality of feed water)
- OR -
For non-treated water supplies: SP20 Polypropylene 20 inch sediment cartridge.
Replace when clogged (lifetime depends on quality of feed water).
Final Filtration Cartridge 1 extended Radial Flow combined 5 micron sediment filter and activated-carbon filter will treat approximately 40,000 litres.
Optional higher capacity activated-carbon filters are available for installations where higher flow rates are required.
Simple screw off housing (wrench supplied).
Servicing:The SilverSafe power pack requires new batteries when lights no longer operate. Total replacement of SilverSafe unit is required when silver electrodes have been exhausted - about 250,000 litres.
Cartridges will require replacement quarterly or when flow rate falls to an inconvenient level.

The SilverSafe Electro-cathodic Particle Dislodgement process is patented world-wide* and continued research will ensure that Homepure maintains its leadership in water purification technology.
